The Grão Vasco museum in Viseu houses an exquisite collection of wood statues from the 18th century. The names of the sculptors who created these pieces have long been lost. What remains is the mastery with which they used their mallets and chisels to breathe life into wood.
The Grão Vasco museum is located at Adro Sé in Viseu, tel 232 422 049.
As always, informative and interesting. Thanks indeed.
That particular skill seems to have extended to Portuguese furniture-making too – we noticed many examples of beautifully carved items of household furniture on our travels throughout Portugal. I hope the art is continuing to be passed down.
There indeed still some active practitioners of the art of wood carving.

We’re sorry to hear about this issue. We never share subscriber emails, so it is highly unlikely that we are the source of the problem.
As I am still being overwhelmed by junk mail can you please reply to my email of the 29th December -below.

Sorry about this. We to your message replied before. We do not share emails with absolutely anyone, so we doubt we are the source of the problem. But we will contact wordpress to see if they have any advice.
